Emergency Physician, Trauma Physician

I am a Senior Emergency Physician. I am currently working at Westmead Hospital, a tertiary referral hospital and a major Trauma Centre for western Sydney. I also work at Ryde Hospital and Auburn Hospital, which are smaller metropolitan district hospitals in Sydney. I am a Clinical Senior Lecturer, at the Medical School of University of Sydney.

I also work as a Trauma Physician, for the Trauma Department of Westmead Hospital, co-ordinating resuscitation and post-operative care of trauma patients.

My main areas of interest are Trauma, Resuscitation, Acute Pain Management, Procedural Sedation, International Emergency Medicine, Medical Simulation and Education.

It was during my final years of Emergency Medicine Training when the first bunch of Emergency Doctors came from the Netherlands to train with us at Westmead Hospital. I had the pleasure of meeting and training with Pieter van Driel, Gael Smits, Harm van de Pas, Femke Geijsel, and many others, who have now become the pioneers of establishing Emergency Medicine in the Netherlands.

In 2008, I travelled to Tilburg with another Westmead Emergency Physician, Dr Naren Gunja, and met up with some of the old friends. We were impressed with the development and appreciated some of the challenges our Dutch colleagues were facing in setting up Emergency Medicine as a newly recognised specialty.

I am married with 3 young children. I enjoy playing or watching a good soccer game.
