After completing my training in Emergency Medicine in the Netherlands a few years ago, I found myself wanting more than the emerging Dutch training programme could provide at that stage. In order to seek further skills and knowledge, I went to Australia, and have since then worked all over the red continent and obtained my Fellowship with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine.<\/p>\n
Currently, I divide my time working as Emergency Consultant at the Royal Darwin Hospital, and Retrieval Consultant at CareFlight NT \u2013 both in the tropical Top End of Australia.<\/p>\n
There are many areas within our specialty of Emergency Medicine that interest me, including evidence-based practice, Indigenous health, disaster medicine and toxinology.
\nA particular interest in prehospital Emergency Medicine started with my work as Medical Manager (MMA) with the Ambulance Service in Southeast North-Brabant, and continued in Australia where I worked with the Royal Flying Doctor Service, CareFlight Sydney, and the Greater Sydney Area Helicopter Emergency Medical Service.<\/p>\n
I am very happy to be involved in the MNSHA programme, and I am very excited to be working with Dutch Emergency Physicians who, like me, feel they want more out of the specialty but find it hard to get the training required. I have been very impressed to see from a distance how the Dutch training and practice has evolved in the last few years, and I think MNSHA will be an appropriate next step.<\/p>\n
